EXCENTRIC PAINTER

Do you know who have painted this picture?

Look at the perspective.
The light.
And its shadow. Specially, the one of the arm.

Go and make your proposal.

Very impressive, and unusual for a surrealist paintor.
He is spanish.
From the 20th century.

Excentric : ("At the age of six I wanted to be a cook. At seven I wanted to be Napoleon. And my ambition has been growing steadily ever since." the painter)

interested in every thing concerning art, as cinéma, design, graphism.... He also has designed the very famous little logo which is sold every where in Latin Europa.

As surprising as it seems, the paintor is Salvador DALI.

Megalomania in the air

"Every morning when I wake up, I experience an exquisite joy - the joy of being Salvador Dalí - and I ask myself in rapture: What wonderful things this Salvador Dalí is going to accomplish today?" - Salvador Felipe Jacinto Dalí

I'm not surrealists'fan, maybe I'm too much realist. Sorry for his devotee.
But I admit that I've watch once this painting of Christ of Saint John of the Cross, years and years ago, and never forget it. I realize with this artwork, that Dali was a great realist painter too, in this particular occasion. I learnt, at this time, not to judge immediately.

If you search more you can even find this one, in an other style, but also very realist.

That's my selection. Maybe it wouldn't be yours.

  1. Dali and Chupa Chups, I learn new things every day. Unusual 4 choices from the man, which is okay by me.

  3. I have always liked Dali and surrealism in general. Also Expressionism and a host of other 'isms.
That bottom picture reminds me of Hockney.

  10. I'm with you. To me it takes more talent to paint a real thing and make it look like it could come right off the canvas!
