THE INSIDE

Third visit for you at the Cathedrale of Chartres.
As promised, I open the wooden door today and show you the inside.
This Cathedrale is particularly famous for its stained glass windows, and rose-window.

Sorry, I couldn't take a picture of the rose-window which is one of the most beautiful Art piece of the Cathedrale, because the facade was under repairing.
Due to these stained-glass, the inside is maintained very dark.
After that these little monsters have blown out some candles! We've decided to bring ours. . . . .

Après que ces petits monstres aient décidé de souffler quelques cierges, nous avons décidé de de déposer le notre. . . . . . . .

. . . . . . . . in front of Notre Dame du Pilier, who is a black blessed Virgin, made in pear tree wood.

. . . .. . . . . . .. devant Notre Dame du Pilier, fabriquée en bois de poirier.
We put our candle among the others.
Chartres is a step of pilgrimage by itself, but also in the way of Saint James (Saint Jacques de Compostelle for us). In front of the cadrale, on the floor, outside :

  7. Several years ago, we went to St Anne de Beaupre in Quebec, Canada.
My children could have spent our entire souvenir budget on lighting candles!!! I guess that's a good thing. Snorkie loves to go to churches with candles. I would love to see Chartres some day...the St James Pilgrimage is a dream for the future.
    Blessings, E
