2 SPANISH PAINTERS

After getting to know these 2 spanish painters better.
Let's see one common point in their personality.

"At the age of six I wanted to be a cook. At seven I wanted to be Napoleon. And my ambition has been growing steadily ever since.”Dali

My mother said to me, "If you are a soldier, you will become a general. If you are a monk, you will become the Pope." Instead, I was a painter, and became Picasso.

They were both, immensely self confident, almost megalomaniacs.

Dali speaking about Picasso : "Picasso is spanish,so do I. Picasso is a painter : so do I. Picasso is communist : neither do I…”. Isn't that way to tell things is funny ?

  1. Bonsoir Catherine!

  4. LOL...I loved those quotes...I can't even in my wildest imagination, picture Picasso as a priest! Dali was a really strange bird, but I do love his crucifixion and last supper paintings...strangely, his religious art is awe inspiring, where much of the rest is just....hmmm, odd.
I can't imagine that a person could live well with themselves with no humility...and thses guys obviously had none. No one and nothing was more important to them than themselves. Yikes.
BTW, I am also fond of Picasso's rose and blue periods...not so fond of the early cubism...his late still lifes are very interresting and colorful...
We had an exhibit several years ago in Philadelphia called Picasso & Things...it focused on his still life work...I bought the catalog!

  5. I appreciate a lot these words of Picasso:
"Io lavoro esclusivamente per me stesso, non cerco l'applauso, mi disinteresso del consenso, non bado alle mode".
