POINTS COMMUNS - COMMON POINTS

Sainte Agnès (France 06)

Menton Old town (France)

Ventimiglia (Italy)

To the question waht are the common points : one is tempted to answer : the bycicles. Yes, I know, I put them here to mislead you. (just joking)
Too simplistic as answer.

In fact, this village and town share an atmosphere.

Washing that flies in the wind and that smells good. I know, it sounds like a bad advertising slogan, but here, you get the idea.
Italian words singing in the chats of the people I pass.
Archways, as secret paths between two alleys that connect them together from where these voices are ringing out.
Irregular cobblestones and steps that take you in a maze. No matter, as you're here to lose you.
Plants that every owner displays at his door, windows or hangs up on the stone walls in an inextricable mess.

Maybe, I've forgotten some details. I'll write about it later, when they'll come back in mind. If you have enough about about Menton and its surroundings, just come back later in the month, because, I don't get tired watching all this.

  12. Three fab photos, Catherine. I particularly love the photograph of the old town of Ventimiglia. The same paving I see as in much of the old town of Menton, but not - regret, regret, regret - on Rue Longue. I know we both dislike the new surface there.

Looking forward to more of Menton and Ventimiglia and Sainte Agnes. You know me, I can never have too many of these joys!

  16. Hi Catherine:)

Lovely photos. The place has a magical charm, a magnetic attraction which is unusual and breath taking. The disorderliness, the narrow streets, the display of plants all add to the rustic, rugged beauty of the place. The people are resourceful, inventive, and are imbued with an aesthetic sense to create a special attraction which is out of the ordinary.

While I am full of praise for the extraordinarily wonderful area, I feel the residents of this place will have no secrets from one another. Even if they talk softly in their house it will be heard by the neighbors.

If good food is cooked in one house all the neighbors will know because the fragrance will waft through the kitchen windows into other peoples houses.

If one house has a party all the neighborhood will come to know of it.

I am also concerned about ventilation and the free flow of breeze through the doors and windows and circulation in the house. The houses are so close and cramped, getting good fresh air might be difficult.

But inspite of all this, the place looks like the abode of fairies and angels. They will use broomsticks to fly out of their windows instead of automobiles and use their magic wands to get food on their table. Some times they will use their cycles to get some exercise on the uneven bumpy roads.

I enjoyed reading your narration and I can see you are enchanted by the beauty of this place. It is a good place to go for a walk and tone up your leg muscles while enjoying the visual beauty.

    Have a lovely day Catherine:)
    Joseph
