The Salmon House at Chartres is a relic of the half-timbering house that remains on the place de la poissonnerie (fish-shop square) where were negociated fishes as soon as the Middle Age.
Here, you can watch a piece of the Cathedrale by reflection on its doors.
I love the fish carved on the timber!
RépondreSupprimerAnd the cathedral too, of course.
Lovely!
Fine shots, especially the reflections of the buildings in the glass.
RépondreSupprimerImpressive medieval building.
RépondreSupprimerI thought only the old Norwegians were using timber back then.
Come to thing of it, the wood carvers were a guild of its own, with craftsmen traveling all over Europe.
Special to see it still incorporated in a city on not only as a part of a museum.
The cathedral of course is a reflected masterpiece.

des superbes reflets, c'est beau
RépondreSupprimerFabulous photos, Catherine! That fish is so interesting. I really like the reflection in the window, too. They're all good!
RépondreSupprimerHappy RT!
The red doors and windows are classic, and the way they sit upon the slate (?) foundation and steps is beautiful. The best and most complex picture is the cathedral reflection in the old glass. A stunning montage!

The columns and all details are wonderful!
RépondreSupprimerGreat post!

Great shot! I think the reflex on the door is magnificent.
Interesting fish carving and this place being called a Salmon House.
RépondreSupprimerLove the cathedral.
Salmon House? No wonder it is red. ;)
RépondreSupprimerSuch beautiful shots, well done!
RépondreSupprimerbeautiful photos the reflections are wonderful.
RépondreSupprimerAttractive building, with the red windows and doors. The reflection of the Cathedral in the doors is splendid. Very fine Ruby Tuesday, Catherine!
RépondreSupprimerI missed Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Chartres while I was in France, but I've seen a lot of photos of this and wish I had made the trip here. The two different spires look so very interesting.
RépondreSupprimerThe carved fish is wonderful, so are the reflections and all your pictures of this building, lovely.
RépondreSupprimerMy ruby is here! :)
Happy Tuesday!
Love the name (Salmon) and the red factor increases that but the reflection is just perfect oh and we can't sit directly on the grass too much in TX because there are many biting bugs: ants, chiggers, not fun at all!! I miss where I grew up in Ohio where we rolled in the grass safely as children.
RépondreSupprimerThat's a house for me, it looks so nice but I am more interested in the salmon !
RépondreSupprimerI don't know if it rains often in Maastricht, it was the first time I visited this lovely little town. But Holland and Belgium have usually the same weather so it rains often I can assure you ! But today and apparently the whole week the sun will shine ! Youpee !!
Beautiful photos. I love the reflections in the windows.
RépondreSupprimerHi!
RépondreSupprimerIt's beautiful! I really like those columns on the first photo! They look very strong! Have a great day!!
Sherrie
the doors and windows are lovely, add the relections and they are stunning!
RépondreSupprimerFabulous photos! Thank you for sharing a little part of your world with us! I've never been to Europe....someday!
RépondreSupprimerOh, that window with the reflection is beautiful!
RépondreSupprimerWhat a wonderful carved fish, and that shot with the reflection is simply divine.
RépondreSupprimerEuropean cities have such a sense of place, of the (accessible) past. Here, there are antiquities far beyond the reach of memory of an earlier fishmonger, or more recent history, but little in the way of commercial history for the periods in between.
Great shot! Red is always striking around doors and windows. I especially love the reflections in the windows.
RépondreSupprimerThose red doors are just fantastic. What a great RT post and I love how you captured the wonderful reflections in the little windows. Very special place to see from where I am...
