This OCTROI sign in the same place, an interesting detail of the surrounding wall.
The place where you had to pay taxes at the entrance of Sospel.
It's the original version, I'haven't changed colors, they're just Monochome "stone". On the right, it is written 'Fondation Patrimoine' / heritage foundation.
And this Monochrome cat met randomly in the streets of Sospel. Not quite entirely Monochrome but I couldn't resist.

C'est joli en Noir & Blanc !
RépondreSupprimerDis Tu sais ce qu'est l'octroi ???
Bonne nuit !
I love the oldness. Long live arches! (and cats)
RépondreSupprimerThat looks like such an interesting shop. Very picturesque. I also love one of the cat too.
RépondreSupprimerThe South of France is just Wonderful like the shot. A for the cat who could resist.
RépondreSupprimerA quaint sort of place. You have made the best of the opportunity to shoot in the medium
RépondreSupprimerI was no forerunner - I grew up with B&W. It was the norm.
Nice shot, I think I like it better in B&W.
RépondreSupprimerWonderful images in black and white however it is the cat that I adore!!
RépondreSupprimerI had a white cat that resembled this one!
Today I have joined Todays Flowers group!
How very neat is that arch and I love the cat shot.
RépondreSupprimerThe arches look ancient, perfect for b&w. And the cat...Ha!...white!!
RépondreSupprimerBonsoir! And that's about all the French I know...
RépondreSupprimerI like both photos and b/w does suit it well. What an intriguing looking little shop!
I'm playing twice this week.

The cat sleep soundly,how nice.
RépondreSupprimerThanks for sharing your MM and also Thanks for commenting on my MM.
Have a nice day.
These are wonderful. The black and white version makes the image timeless.
RépondreSupprimerI would not have resisted the cat, either.
its naturally classic!
RépondreSupprimerHi Catherine,
RépondreSupprimerthe archway works well in mono and colour but imagine having to pay a tax to enter a town; some towns would remain empty.
I love the cat, of course!
Arches and old signage what a wonderful two fold find. I do like the mood the B&W causes it has always made photos timeless for me.
RépondreSupprimerThank you for the Wikipedia link that was good to know too.
I love both versions of that first shot. I think I'd have had a hard tim echoosing which to use. But since this is Monochrome Monday, I guess the choice is pbivous. Thanks for sharing the original too though.
RépondreSupprimerI enjoy the whole post.
RépondreSupprimerThe old shop looks very attractive in this beautiful b&w image. The sleeping cat is nice too.
I love the main image. Perfect for monochrome. To me it brings it alive better than the colour. Thanks for posting and sharing.
RépondreSupprimerPour Webradio, l'octroi était une vieille taxe sur l'importation de marchandises dans les villes (et aussi le nom de l'administration qui percevait cette taxe). Personnellement je préfère la version couleur délavée.
RépondreSupprimerLovely .. and that cat is a ringer for my own Rosie!
RépondreSupprimer:-Daryl
Nice post. I'm not sure if I like the photo better in color or B&W. Both have special qualities about them.
RépondreSupprimerSo lovely and quaint, this is the sort of place | love to find.
RépondreSupprimerAh, yes, we do have a similar picture! I love both the b&w and the coloured version - which has an old and faded look about it. It is wonderful what can be found just around a corner.
RépondreSupprimerAnd your red Metro signs are great too. Some signs become iconic.
So much character in that building.
RépondreSupprimerThat curled up kitty is the sweetest.
The cat is perfect! I love your first photo. I think it looks better in monochrome than in colour - it has an ancient appearance.
