So different in coluors, it sudenly vent to be like a candy :-)
RépondreSupprimerI like both of these shots so much. Very strong images.
RépondreSupprimerGreat shot! I love it in B/W.
RépondreSupprimerJolie photo en tout cas! :)
Another great architectural shot, Catherine.
RépondreSupprimerA very quaint sign - I wonder what happened to the rest of the neon writing, though, and if I would trust the sign in the dark...
RépondreSupprimerBeautiful also in colour - with the pink house and leafy tree.
Hi Catherine,
RépondreSupprimerI love the wrought Iron work, very fancy.
I agree the architecture is beautiful.
Strange place to have an orange tree?...
Nice photo.
RépondreSupprimerTaxi is, i believe, a universal name.
I adore those colours in this area but it is a perfect subject for mono. OK, Police and Taxi we all do seem to know.
RépondreSupprimerLove the way you cropped the shot. In this case, the sign is enhanced by taking out the color!!!
RépondreSupprimerLooks more dramatic in mono, although I do love the tree.
RépondreSupprimerFor a moment, I didn't realise we were in Menton. I love the shot in B and W and especially that you've cropped it. And then I saw the soft colours, the whole street, the tree. Two beautiful shots.
RépondreSupprimerIt was so good to finally meet you, dear Catherine, and know it is the beginning of our friendship. And so good to meet your delightful family too. See you soon!
darn darn darn! I forgot Monochrome Monday again! We're in Germany so it slipped my mind! This is just gorgeous Catherine!
RépondreSupprimerAn orange while waiting for the taxi - what a combination that would be :-)
RépondreSupprimerIt's cool.
RépondreSupprimerGreat photo!
I love the close crop you've done here Catherine. It really emphasizes both the sign and the scrollwork underneath, and the b&w gives it a terrific vintage feel. You've got a great eye. I'd love to stroll around Paris with you one day to see it as you do.
RépondreSupprimerIt's cool..very nice idea..
RépondreSupprimerBut I doubt you would find such a beautiful taxi sign any where outside of continental Europe! Lovely shot.
RépondreSupprimer(Nice of you to "cheat" also with the coloured version!) :-)
RépondreSupprimerI will be in Menton in about two weeks... nice to know there are taxis around! :-)
It seems that the first taxis ever appeared in Paris ... 17th century, then known as "fiacres" (because their station was at the Hotel St. Fiacre, rue St. Martin)! Now St. Fiacre is the patron saint of the taxi drivers.
Taxameter, taximètre, taximeter... invented to calculate the fare, came much later I think!
Bien vu ! C'est totalement suranné, un charme fou !
RépondreSupprimerThe monochrome is very artsy and I like it but I love the color version. The pink building is like cotton candy and so inviting as is the soft green of the tree. Both are lovely photos.
RépondreSupprimerDear Catherine,
RépondreSupprimerThere are so many things I love about the first photo in monochrome: the dark iron scroll that holds the sign and the angle, in particular. Splendid!
In color, it looks like a very different sort of place. Black and white always sort of ages things gracefully. It is one reason I love to photograph in black and white.
Thank you for your lovely comments on my blogs. You words always mean so much to me.
Love and Peace,
Gina
yes I think that doesn't need a translation, lol !
RépondreSupprimerHi Catherine :)
RépondreSupprimerLovely photos very skillfully taken. The taxi sign board is very special as you know these days you have neon lights for every thing under the sun.
The only thing that surprised me was that there are no taxis parked and no people on the road. If there are no people on the road I wonder how this taxi company will do business. May be the taxis are parked somewhere else and there are no people on the road because it is a holiday.
Good day to you Catherine :)
Joseph

Congratulations!
RépondreSupprimerBoth are fantastic!
Great shots, that is a very pretty coloured street.
RépondreSupprimerTu as vu, Catherine, j'écris trop rapidement! :-)
RépondreSupprimerI definitely love the top photo. A well-defined angle and very composition for a black and white photograph.
RépondreSupprimerEki
I have to agree I was in a few this weekend in NYC
