Because my memory is still flooded with blue color,
in the narrow streets of the old town of Menton,
a little lay-by very pleasant and welcoming,
for walkers tired pacing up and down the sloping alleys.
One can hear familiar sounds of the houses by the opened doors and windows,
children's laugh playing in the parallel alley.
Being soaked by the atmosphere.

  1. Hi Catherine,
I enjoyed catching up with your posts. I am only going to comment here because a thunderstorm is near, and I will have to turn my computer off soon.

Thank you for sharing your part of the world and travels with us.

  3. Lovely poem. And easy to see from the photograph how your memory is still flooded with blue. What a gorgeous blue it is, among all those green plants.

  4. Hi Catherine :)

I can see you in my minds eye sitting and sipping a cup of tea and reading the news paper. May be I'm quite wrong. Like all loving mothers you are in the kitchen making breakfast for your children and husband.Well what ever it is A VERY GOOD MORNING TO YOU:)

I am trying to figure out what exactly the photo is. Is it a house? Is it a garden? Is it a park?

What ever it is, this is a gorgeous sight and I take my hats off to the owner who is taking so much trouble to make the place look so beautiful and alluring. Surely I would like to sit on the blue bench and relax and read a book.Better still I would like to lie on that bench and listen to children laugh and play while the gently blowing breeze lulls me into deep sleep.

This is a beautiful poem well composed and well written. I am trying hard to under stand this poem since you have provided a translation in English. Of course, I believe the English translation is not as good as the original French and does not convey the full meaning.

I like to think something like this. When I am tired and fed up of the various problems facing me in my daily life and I am blue, sad, upset and overwhelmed, it is comes as a great relief to my aching soul to hear the happy laughter of little children playing and enjoying themselves. WOW! I hope I have done a good job of interpreting your poem.

    Have a wonderful day Catherine:)

  11. I love these little surprises we happen upon they just bring me joy and delight. I too would like to sit for a spell a respite from the world. I see they also inspire you, Inspire you to write or find poetry to fit the moment --did you write that verse?

  12. Tu as une maison là bas?

  13. Sue : thunderstorms seen from a cosy house gives the impression we're protected, it's an other delicious feeling too.

Cesar & Léia : : ) A charming street or whatever place inspires "delicate words". Have a nice week too.

Gina : I have the impression some people are more sensitive to colours, and that way, to atmosphere. Some have lost that need in big cities, otherwise many more balconies would be full of flowers. Big cities miss "individual" colors.

Joseph : It isn't the first time a peaceful place inspires you a resting time : ) Lie on, Joseph, and listen at life all around. Or have a nap, and forget all during this moment of calm. No cars in that street, no pollution by noises, or ad posters. The only risk is to be awaken by someone who'd ask you to share a little place at your side.

    Gattina : Join us, Please.

Peter : Je suis jalouse.

Jilly : nothing has changed, it's the same charm. You're right, Jilly, we look around us with the same eyes, and the same sensibility.

Marcia : We whare the same sensibility here, and I've just told you my inner feelings with my words.

  20. I want to sit in the cool on the blue bench and soak in the quiet. If it's not quiet in reality, it is in my mind.
    What a lovely spot.
